Is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Drivers consistently praise its power, comfort, and towing capability, and many also like the smooth transmission and strong diesel engine. Those themes line up with the truck’s roomy cabin and serious capability, which make it appealing if you want a heavy-duty pickup that still works for everyday use.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, and advanced safety features are not standard.

With a 28.4% good-and-great deal share, you still have room to shop selectively rather than rush into the first listing you see.

Is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as powerful and comfortable, and they also point to the strong diesel engine and smooth transmission as reasons it feels dependable in regular use. The truck’s long-haul character also suggests it is built for owners who expect to count on it over time.

Ford’s heavy-duty setup is designed for durability, and the available diesel and gas powertrains are built around serious work. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about day-to-day satisfaction and more about how hard the truck was worked before you buy it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the most basic work-truck version, with a black grille, black bumpers, steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, and a small in-dash screen. The XLT adds more comfort and convenience, while the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited bring progressively more upscale styling and cabin features. If you want the best value, the XLT is the trim that most clearly adds everyday usability without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 6.2-litre gasoline V8, an available 7.3-litre gas V8, or a 6.7L Power Stroke turbodiesel V8. The gas engines use a 10-speed automatic, while the diesel uses a six-speed TorqShift automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive with low range is optional.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and AdvanceTrac traction control with roll stability control. Optional driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system. Advanced safety features are not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: The base truck gets a 2.3-inch in-dash screen, while the XLT adds an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3. Wireless smartphone integration is not mentioned, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included with SYNC 3, and FordPass Connect is standard across the lineup.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figures are stated for this heavy-duty pickup.

Which 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, with vinyl upholstery, a basic screen, and the essentials you need if you care more about capability than comfort.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for most buyers because it adds cloth seating, power accessories, satellite radio, SYNC 3, and a larger touchscreen without moving into luxury-truck pricing.
• Lariat: This trim is the right step up if you want leather, power-adjustable front seats, and a more polished cabin while still staying below the premium trims.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a distinctive upscale look and a richer interior, plus features like navigation, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats in Crew Cab models, remote start, and a heated steering wheel.
• Platinum: This trim leans into luxury with massaging seats, 20-inch wheels, LED fog lights, and power-retractable running boards.
• Limited: This is the top-end choice if you want the most upscale cabin, including the Platinum content plus a twin-panel moonroof.

The Tremor package is available on XLT-and-up trims, and it adds off-road-focused hardware and styling.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 81 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,216 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $44,286 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,021 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where their truck fits in the current used market. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher average.

The truck’s strong capability and broad appeal should help it remain desirable, especially in well-equipped trims and popular configurations. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and AdvanceTrac traction control with roll stability control. Ford also offers a broad list of optional driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to move up the trim ladder or find a well-optioned truck to get the protection tech you want.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a second gas engine option and a more balanced, well-rounded heavy-duty package.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong power, a roomy cabin, and a market that has cooled enough to create some buying opportunity, the 2020 is the right year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target lower-priced listings, but the 2020 already offers a good mix of capability and value.
