How much does the 2020 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 7.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,132 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.7/5, and the expert rating is 8.3/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and many also like the engine performance and overall versatility. The F-150’s broad usefulness is a major part of the appeal, since it is meant to work as a commuter, family hauler, road-trip vehicle, and work truck.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the interior materials can feel cheap. Even so, the truck’s mix of capability and everyday comfort makes it a strong fit if you want one vehicle that can cover a lot of roles.

With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?

Ford also includes a useful maintenance perk in the ownership experience: the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-mileage trucks may show wear in the cabin and on feature-rich components, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the work-truck starting point with steel wheels, air conditioning, manual locks, a basic driver display, and standard forward automatic emergency braking. The XLT adds 17-inch painted aluminium wheels, chrome exterior trim, cruise control, SYNC 3, and a WiFi hotspot. The Lariat brings leather-trimmed seats, heated power-folding mirrors, dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitoring, and power heated and cooled front seats. The King Ranch adds saddle-leather upholstery, special stitching, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate. The Platinum adds chrome badging, body-colour bumpers, LED bed lighting and fog lamps, power outlets, ambient lighting, and massaging seats. The Raptor is the off-road-focused model with specialised running gear. The Limited adds premium leather upholstery and a dual-panel moonroof.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.3-litre V6, a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-litre V8, a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, and a 3.0-litre Power Stroke turbodiesel V6. The base V6 is fine for daily driving, while the V8, EcoBoost engines, and turbodiesel are better suited to towing and hauling. The truck can also be configured with rear-wheel drive or available 4WD.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 brings automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Standard safety equipment includes forward automatic emergency braking, airbags, curve control, Roll Stability Control, rain-sensing headlights, and the SOS post-crash alert system. Some driver-assistance features are not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The XL starts with a basic AM/FM radio, while the optional SYNC system adds a touchscreen, USB ports, and voice recognition. The XLT upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, enhanced voice recognition, pinch-to-zoom map controls, and smart-charging USB ports. FordPass with a 4G Wi-Fi modem is available on XLT and higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbodiesel with rear-wheel drive returns 11.1 L/100 km city, 8.3 highway, and 9.8 combined. The closest gasoline equivalent, the 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 with rear-wheel drive, returns 12.0 L/100 km city, 8.9 highway, and 10.6 combined. The V8 returns 14.3 L/100 km city, 10.6 highway, and 12.6 combined. The Raptor is the least efficient version at 15.3 L/100 km city, 13.1 highway, and 14.3 combined.

Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable entry point, but it is intentionally basic. It makes sense if you want a straightforward work truck and do not need much in the way of comfort or tech.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and FordPass connectivity without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a more comfortable daily driver, since it adds leather, heated and cooled front seats, blind-spot monitoring, and dual-zone climate control.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a more distinctive, upscale cabin with the Western-themed interior, premium audio, and extra rear-seat comfort.
• Platinum: This is for buyers who want more luxury touches, including massaging seats, ambient lighting, and additional convenience features.
• Raptor: This is the off-road specialist, with specialised running gear and a setup aimed at rough terrain rather than luxury.
• Limited: This is the most premium choice, with the richest interior treatment and the most comfort-focused equipment.

The XL includes standard forward automatic emergency braking, and higher trims gain more of Ford Co-Pilot360.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,132 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,641 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $31,614 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,062 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests future sellers may need to be realistic if they want to move a truck quickly. If the market stays competitive, well-equipped examples should still attract attention, but pricing will matter more than ever.

The F-150’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because it can serve as a work truck, family vehicle, and daily driver. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?

The SuperCrew version of the 2020 Ford F-150 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and top marks from IIHS in its crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 includes automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Standard safety equipment also includes airbags, curve control, Roll Stability Control, rain-sensing headlights, an anti-theft system, and the SOS post-crash alert system.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so lower trims leave more of the driver-assistance load to optional equipment.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers broad versatility, strong powertrain variety, and a comfortable, modern cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,348 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $31,614 CAD average.
• It adds a redesigned interior with more convenience features and Sync 4.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for newer tech and a redesigned cabin, the 2021 is the better upgrade path.
