This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 493 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.22% compared with last year.

The current average of $17,652 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,070 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you will want to be especially mindful of condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 Tiguan makes sense if you want the seven-seat flexibility, roomy cabin, and strong value story that define this generation. If you are price-sensitive, the 2019 is especially worth a look because the market has softened and there are still plenty of listings to compare, but you should still prioritise condition and a thorough test drive given the reliability concerns noted in the overview.
