Used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 17.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 787 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a crossover SUV that feels more upscale in appearance and more enjoyable to drive than many of its primary competitors. It also has a stylish design and great handling, which helps give it a more polished character than many shoppers expect in this class.

The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and unintuitive technology, so you may want to weigh those against its stronger everyday usefulness. It is larger inside than many rivals and offers plenty of cargo space, which makes it a strong fit if you want practicality with a more refined feel.

26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan is presented as a well-rounded, practical SUV with a solidly assembled cabin and strong everyday utility. Its safety and driver-assistance technology also works well in practice, with the available systems described as subtle and refined rather than irritating.

Volkswagen also includes a complimentary Car-Net Remote Access subscription with features such as remote engine starting, Family Guardian safety features, and a find my car function.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its tech and controls can be frustrating, so condition and feature operation matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trim ladder ranges from Trendline to Highline R-Line, and the R-Line versions add sportier styling. Standard equipment includes keyless entry with remote start and an 8-way power driver’s seat, while the top specification adds adaptive front lighting and a light bar across the grille.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard, and the powertrain is described as adequate but not especially strong.
• Safety package: Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, and IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models. That package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other Tiguans have an 8-inch display. R-Line trims get a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, and the top trim includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Car-Net connected services, SiriusXM 360L, and a nine-speaker Fender sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the R-Line trims should average 9.8 L/100 km in combined driving. The test vehicle returned 10.4 L/100 km on a testing loop.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line Black, and Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tiguan’s space, standard safety equipment, and standard 4Motion without paying for extra appearance or convenience features.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and price, while still keeping the Tiguan’s core strengths intact.
• Comfortline R-Line Black: Choose this if you want the sportier R-Line look and a more distinctive appearance without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Highline R-Line: This is the one to buy if you want the most upscale Tiguan experience, including the larger 10.25-inch display, premium audio, wireless smartphone features, and the most polished appearance.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, so that safety-package difference is worth checking before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 787 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,274 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $27,376 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,092 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Tiguan easier to buy now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, trim, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the current average is close to the year-round low, there may be less room for further softening than there was before. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2023 Tiguan earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year, and NHTSA testing is incomplete.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

All Tiguans have standard Front Assist and Side Assist. Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen also includes an Automatic Post Collision Braking System.

IQ.Drive bundles adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active blind-spot monitoring that counter-steers to help avoid collisions, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. It also includes lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist for highway driving.

One caveat is that NHTSA says the driver’s door unlatched and opened during the side-impact test, which is a safety concern.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines upscale styling, strong practicality, and a third-row seat in a mainstream compact SUV.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,418 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,376 CAD average.
• It is a refined, comfort-focused compact SUV with updated safety technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,492 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,376 CAD average.
• It adds value with upgrades and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, practicality, and upscale character, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer model-year upgrades.
