The 2019 Golf SportWagen is a near prefect car for our needs. it has sufficient power to be easily driven at freeway speeds all day. At the same time, it is small enough to be comfortable in city driving. The safety features and displays are state of the art, yet they recognize the driver as being the person in control. There is plenty of cargo space. With the rear seat folded, there is enough room for two adult bicycles in the back of the car. The car is very comfortable and the cloth sear option if VERY pleasant. The VW SportWagen is a VASTLY superior option to the panoply of ridiculous SUV choices, all of which are too big physically while having less cargo room. Good gas milage is a given. This may well be the last of the truly excellent small station wagons. The VW makes a good comparison with the Audi Avant and Allroad, but at a considerably reduced price point. There is not a car that I would rather have.

Love it. For the class it feels roomy, with a large cargo area. Peppy engine but I will repeat what almost all other reviewers. Have said, there is some lag at higher speeds when wanting to pass and press on the ecelerator . The steering wheel could be a tad firmer but that being said it responds with ease. It’s fun to drive , utilitarian and looks sporty for a station wagon.

I believe all new cars regardless of trim should have lane assist and collision avoidance features including ACC.

How much does the 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,218 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $16,880 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $18,995 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,679 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.82% |
Prices have softened 7.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 57 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen a good car?
Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating suggests you can feel reasonably confident if this model fits your needs. That score points to solid owner satisfaction, especially if you value a practical used wagon with a favourable market position. 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen reliable?
Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
For used buyers, that kind of owner feedback suggests manageable long-term ownership risk if you verify maintenance history and overall condition carefully.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.82% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $16,880 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen's resale value?
The current average of $17,218 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,679 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more attractive entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. If you plan to sell later, buying near the lower end of the range can help protect your position. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.82% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of current pricing and owner satisfaction, the 2019 is a sensible place to focus. If you're especially price-sensitive, compare it against nearby years and prioritise the listing condition and deal quality rather than the badge year alone.
