This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 115 listings available.

The current average of $41,155 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,715 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to be realistic on asking price. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous year's average. The 4Runner’s reputation for durability and steady demand should still help support resale strength over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.81/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.81/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $42,965 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $41,155 CAD average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features and a more upscale feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable with its rugged, old-school character. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with added safety equipment and a slightly more upscale presentation, the 2020 is the better secondary path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 remains the smarter buy.
