Is the 2019 Subaru WRX a good car?

Generally — 4.3/5 — the 2019 Subaru WRX is a practical performance car with rally roots, standard all-wheel drive, and a strong enthusiast identity. It was redesigned on a stiffer chassis with more interior space and better fuel efficiency, while keeping the turbocharged Boxer engine and manual-transmission option that many buyers want in a sport compact. For 2019, it also gained a slight exterior refresh, updated suspension tuning, and available Recaro front seats, which makes it a more polished pick if you value grip and driver involvement over outright comfort.

The model’s standard all-wheel drive is a major advantage in poor weather, and its performance focus is reinforced by the available manual gearbox and turbocharged powertrain. 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2019 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Subaru WRX is presented as a durable, enthusiast-focused performance car with standard all-wheel drive and a well-established identity. Its appeal comes from a mix of traction, driver involvement, and everyday usability rather than luxury or refinement. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance-oriented car can be more demanding to live with if it has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re comparing condition, mileage, and price.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 118 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,949 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $20,949 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,811 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the WRX easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current lower entry point could help you avoid overpaying today, but it also means you should be realistic about how much value the car may recover. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,477 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,949 CAD average.
• It adds a more performance-focused identity with broader appeal to enthusiasts.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and a strong mix of all-wheel-drive traction, manual-transmission appeal, and enthusiast character. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2019 is the smarter starting point; if you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
