CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Summary
With 173 currently listed for sale and an average price of $32,289 CAD, 35.3% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4.5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands out as a compact luxury car that leans hard into refinement, technology, and a premium feel. It sits on Mercedes-Benz’s traditional rear-wheel-drive formula, and the cabin is clearly inspired by the S-Class, which helps it feel more upscale than many rivals. For buyers, that combination of luxury-car ambience and strong brand cachet is a big part of the appeal.
This generation also brings a lot of equipment and modern convenience. In Canada, 4Matic all-wheel drive is standard, and the car uses a standard 48-volt mild-hybrid system with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine rated at 255 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes says that setup can reach 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and achieve highway fuel economy as low as 7.1 litres per 100 kilometres. The car also gets a large 11.9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. The interior packaging is also a strength, with 952 millimetres of rear legroom, though the 455-litre trunk is not as large as some rivals.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The infotainment system can feel fussy, and the touch-sensitive controls may take some getting used to. The ride can also be harsh at times, and the car’s tech-heavy approach may feel overwhelming at first. Even so, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class remains appealing for shoppers who want a small luxury sedan with polished styling, strong safety credentials, and a distinctly premium cabin.

I bought pretty much the basic model and it still had features I liked like blind side warning, back-up camera, etc. I felt the car had all the important safety features for a newer car. It also looks good and I thought the chrome accents made the car look classy, pretty much what a Mercedes Benz should be-- understated elegance.

Great car, really solidly built and drives nicely. The key fob is really dated though; MB didn’t update this to the new style until 2020. Dont like the way the infotainment screen looks like an afterthought either and pre-2020 the screen has a large black border which limits the size of the actual display which isn’t good. Piano black interior trim also seems prone to scratches (as opposed to the ash grey grain)

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, build quality, and luxurious features, and many also like its comfortable interior and stylish design. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury sedan with a premium cabin and a polished feel. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights the car’s build quality and the sense that it feels well put together, while also pointing to a generally dependable ownership experience. The same reviews also suggest that the car’s luxury focus does not come at the expense of everyday usability, which matters if you plan to keep it for the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that a premium, tech-heavy car can become more expensive to live with if neglected.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 289 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class's resale value?
The current average of $30,328 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,567 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the car more attractive to you as a buyer today but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, but resale value will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2019 is the one to focus on first. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and target the cheapest well-kept example rather than stretching for a newer one.
