CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Summary
With 135 currently listed for sale and an average price of $39,785 CAD, 28.9% of 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport 4.2 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport stands out as a luxury SUV that blends serious capability with a high-end feel. Land Rover’s off-road expertise gives it unusual credibility in harsh conditions, while its sports-car-like performance and full-time four-wheel drive help it feel more special than many rivals. It is also positioned as a premium, expensive used SUV, which adds to its exclusivity but makes it a harder recommendation for buyers who are focused on value.
For 2019, the second-generation Range Rover Sport received a turbocharged inline-six, including a version with a mild hybrid setup that powered an additional supercharger. Power and torque were 355 hp and 365 lb-ft on P360 trims and 395 hp and 406 lb-ft on P400 trims, while the supercharged V8 engines were unchanged. Some 2019 models still had the supercharged V6, as Land Rover did not immediately make the switch to the hybrid inline-sixes. That year also kept the benefits of the second-generation redesign, including the lighter aluminium unibody, improved handling, a smoother ride, and more room for passengers and cargo.
Buyers are likely to be drawn to the 2019 Range Rover Sport for its classic style, lavish cabin, strong engines, and off-road performance. At the same time, it carries the drawbacks that often come with used Land Rovers: poor reliability, poor fuel economy, and low resale out of warranty. Owners generally praise its power, comfort, and smooth ride, though some note the absence of a remote starter and raise concerns about maintenance and condition in used examples.

Picked up a used 2016 Range Rover Td6 with about 98k miles and honestly, I’m really happy with it so far. It still feels super smooth and comfortable—exactly what you’d expect from a Range Rover. The ride is quiet, and the interior still looks and feels pretty high-end even for its age. The diesel engine has plenty of torque and actually gets decent fuel economy, which was a nice surprise. Even with the mileage, it doesn’t feel worn out or tired at all, which says a lot about how these hold up if they’re taken care of. Tech-wise, it’s not brand new obviously, but everything still works well and does what I need. And if you care about off-roading, it definitely lives up to the reputation. That said, with something close to 100k miles, you really want to make sure it’s been maintained properly. As long as it has a good service history, I think it’s a great value for the money. Overall, no regrets—really enjoying it so far.

This car hasn’t been take care of. All the wheels are curbed. The drivers side door handle is broken. The windshield is cracked. And the check engine light is on. I’d be surprised if anyone buys this vehicle in its current state.

How much does the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $39,875 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $39,873 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $49,560 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $46,523 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −14.29% |
Prices have softened 14.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 134 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?
Generally — 4.2/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the feedback points to a mix of powerful performance, luxurious features, comfort, and a smooth ride. That lines up well if you want a premium SUV that feels special, with serious capability and a high-end cabin, rather than a value-first family hauler. The main trade-offs shoppers mention are maintenance concerns and the lack of a remote starter. With 30.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?
Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling driving experience, with praise for comfort and smoothness alongside the vehicle’s strong performance. At the same time, used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect long-term ownership confidence.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 134 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.29% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $39,873 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?
The current average of $39,875 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,523 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should expect a more competitive resale environment unless your vehicle is especially well maintained and attractively equipped. Strong condition and documented service history matter more when a model is already trading below its prior-year average.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.29% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest blend of luxury feel, capability, and owner satisfaction in this price band, the 2019 is the one to focus on. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2019’s softer pricing and decent deal availability make it a sensible starting point for shoppers who want a premium SUV without paying peak-market money.
