CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Honda Passport
Summary
With 56 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,634 CAD, 30.4% of 2019 Honda Passport listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Honda Passport 4.83 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Honda Passport stands out as Honda’s revived two-row crossover SUV, returning after a long absence as an all-new model designed in the United States and built in Alabama alongside the Pilot. It was essentially a shortened version of the Pilot, which gave it a sportier profile, better departure angles, and slightly more ground clearance than its larger sibling. That packaging also helped make it a practical choice for buyers who wanted more space and capability than a compact crossover, without needing a third row.
For 2019, the Passport came with a 3.5-litre V6 producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, Honda’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system was standard, and towing capacity was rated at 2,268 kilograms (5,000 pounds) when properly equipped. Standard equipment was generous, even on base models, with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, and Honda Sensing safety features. Cargo space was another strength, with 1,430 litres behind the second row and 2,852 litres with the rear seats folded, plus under-floor storage compartments for smaller items.
The Passport’s appeal is also tied to its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and strong V6 powertrain, which help explain why owners often praise its smooth performance and roomy cabin. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the infotainment system felt dated, the model had no hybrid option, and some buyers may have wanted a sportier look. Even so, the 2019 Honda Passport’s mix of standard equipment, useful cargo room, and everyday usability makes it a distinctive option in the midsize SUV segment.

Review feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on comfort, smooth performance, and the kind of long-term usability that helps you feel confident in daily driving. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that any example with unresolved infotainment or transmission quirks could cost you time and money if it has not been properly maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Passport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 53 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.95% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $25,451 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $25,451 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,646 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Passport has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the current average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Strong demand for a roomy, comfortable two-row SUV can help support future interest, especially if your example is clean and well cared for.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.95% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped two-row SUV with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price, the 2019 is a sensible place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a newer example offers similar appeal for only a small premium.
