CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Honda Odyssey
Summary
With 11 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,950 CAD, 18.2% of 2019 Honda Odyssey listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Honda Odyssey 4.95 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Honda Odyssey stands out as a family minivan that blends practicality with a more car-like driving feel than many buyers expect. It uses Honda’s 3.5-litre J-Series V6, which makes 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. Honda also gave this generation a stronger body structure with more ultra-high-strength steel, aluminium, and magnesium, which helped reduce weight and improve rigidity. The result is a van that aims to feel quieter, more solid, and easier to live with than a typical boxy people mover.
What makes the 2019 Honda Odyssey especially appealing is how much equipment it offers for families. Even the basic EX-L includes the Honda Sensing suite with adaptive safety technology, plus seating for seven, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a moonroof, a power tailgate, leather seating, CabinTalk, a rear-seat entertainment system, and Magic Slide second-row seats for better access to the back. Higher trims can add ventilated front seats, a hands-free power tailgate, an 11-speaker audio system, leather piping, wireless phone charging, and the CabinWatch camera system. That breadth of features helps explain why it remains attractive to shoppers who want comfort, convenience, and safety in one package.
There are a few trade-offs, though. The Odyssey does not offer all-wheel drive or a hybrid version, and its fuel consumption is not especially impressive for the class. Early examples from this generation have also drawn complaints about electrical glitches, infotainment issues, and transmission problems, so a careful test drive and maintenance history are important. Even so, the 2019 Honda Odyssey remains a well-equipped, versatile minivan with a strong reputation for family use.

How much does the 2019 Honda Odyssey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,354 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $27,354 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $31,330 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,330 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.69% |
Prices have softened 12.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 228 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Honda Odyssey a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.9/5, which is a strong sign that this model year delivers on family practicality. The owner feedback consistently points to a spacious interior, comfort, and a wide range of features, including strong safety technology and useful in-cabin convenience items. That fits well if you want a family minivan that prioritises everyday usability, comfort, and versatility. With 25.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Honda Odyssey reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially those who value comfort and family-friendly usefulness over flash. That said, you should still pay close attention to maintenance records and a thorough test drive, since used examples can carry long-term ownership risk if electrical, infotainment, or transmission issues were not addressed properly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Odyssey?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 228 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $27,354 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Honda Odyssey's resale value?
The current average of $27,354 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,330 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the model easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at the right price and keep the vehicle well maintained, you may be better positioned to protect value later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2019 is a sensible choice if you want a well-liked, family-focused minivan and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, it can also make sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
