Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its great features, luxurious feel, solid performance, stylish design, and comfort. That lines up well with the Sierra 1500’s role as a full-size pickup that can work hard while still feeling more refined and upscale than many rivals. With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of attractive options to consider.

Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with reliability standing out as part of the appeal. That said, some owners mention concerns about potential transmission issues, so it’s worth paying close attention to service records and road-test behaviour on any used example you consider.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.03% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,282 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,282 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,711 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if prices stay soft. For a future seller, the upside is that the Sierra 1500 still has broad appeal thanks to its upscale feel and strong feature set. The downside is that a softer market can make it harder to recover as much value at trade-in or private sale time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is a strong choice if you want the Sierra’s upscale character, broad capability, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with lower average pricing may be worth a look, but the 2019 remains the better fit if you value the balance of owner satisfaction, deal availability, and premium feel.
