CarGurus Analysis: 2019 GMC Canyon

Summary
With 67 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,789 CAD, 35.8% of 2019 GMC Canyon listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 GMC Canyon 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 GMC Canyon stands out as a midsize pickup that leans more toward refinement than many buyers might expect. In its second generation, the Canyon began to distinguish itself by offering more luxurious trim levels, and that upscale bent is a major part of its appeal. It also gives shoppers a smaller and more affordable alternative to the full-sized GMC Sierra, while being easier to manoeuvre and potentially better suited to city driving. For buyers who want a truck that feels a little more polished without moving up to a full-size model, that combination is a strong draw.
For 2019, the Canyon’s infotainment system received a makeover and included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. That update helps the truck feel more modern and user-friendly, especially alongside the broader range of trims and equipment that the Canyon is known for. The model’s appeal is also reinforced by its reputation for comfort and easy driving, with owners often praising its smooth power delivery and well-equipped cabin. At the same time, the Canyon is not the most practical choice for everyone: the truck’s price can be a concern, and rear seat space is limited for adults.

Over all, very nice midsized truck. All the features I need in a truck. My only complaint, is they call it a crew cab. If your crew is a couple small children, your ok. But most grown adults are not fitting in back seat.

This is a nice, mid sized truck. Easy to drive and park. Good on gas. And still a work truck.

This is a very nice equipped vehicle. The SLT is pretty much loaded with features that I like. I previously had a 2017 Colorado and the only downside I have noticed is that the Canyon seems to have a lot more wind/road noise... I`m not sure why. All else (so-far) is just Great !

Is the 2019 GMC Canyon a good car?
Yes — the 2019 GMC Canyon earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its stylish look, comfortable interior, smooth power delivery, and easy driving and parking. That lines up well if you want a midsize pickup that feels more polished and manoeuvrable than a full-size truck, while still offering plenty of features. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.
Is the 2019 GMC Canyon reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also points to a truck that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with owners highlighting its smooth power and comfortable cabin. The recurring praise for easy driving and a trouble-free feel suggests it can be a sensible choice if you want a used pickup you can count on. For long-term ownership, the main risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well, since condition matters more as these vehicles age.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Canyon?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 69 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 22.83% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $25,705 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 GMC Canyon's resale value?
The current average of $25,721 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,328 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means there may be less room for appreciation unless demand strengthens. If you buy well now and keep the truck in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 22.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2019 is a strong pick if you want a midsize truck with a more refined feel, modern infotainment, and solid owner approval. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2019 stands out as the better choice when you want a balanced mix of comfort, features, and current market value.
