CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Dodge Durango
Summary
With 22 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,794 CAD, 36.4% of 2019 Dodge Durango listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Dodge Durango 4.87 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Dodge Durango stands out as a midsize SUV that blends family usefulness with a distinctly muscular character. In Canada, all-wheel drive has been standard for the Durango’s entire third generation, and this generation moved to a unibody crossover platform shared with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a change that made it much more comfortable and easy to drive. It also offers the kind of flexibility many buyers want from a three-row SUV, with standard seating for seven and available second-row captain’s chairs that reduce capacity to six.
For 2019, the Durango’s appeal comes from its broad range of powertrains and trims. The third-generation lineup included the base Pentastar V6 as well as 5.7-litre, 6.4-litre, and supercharged 6.2-litre Hemi V8s, giving it a stronger performance focus than many rivals. Buyers could also find trims ranging from practical SXT and GT versions to more upscale Citadel models and high-performance SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat variants. Depending on the trim, features could include leather or Nappa leather, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, lane departure warning, a backup camera, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
At the same time, the 2019 Durango is not without drawbacks. The earliest model years of this generation were affected by recalls for reliability issues such as brake failure, problematic fuel pumps, and electrical and wiring issues, so inspection matters on the used market. Even so, its combination of strong powertrains, seven-passenger practicality, and available comfort and technology features makes it a distinctive choice for buyers who want an SUV with more personality than the average family hauler.

Great car, and awesome features. Beautiful interior and exterior color is beautiful. Would recommend getting Weathertech floor matts as the interior is mostly carpeted.

Features and interior are awesome. Some paint issues that need to be addressed. Excellent SUV for a family, tons of interior space. Captains chairs are wonderful. A sharp looking SUV with mini van room. Drives and handles like a full side sedan. Don’t sleep on the Durango.

Yes — the 2019 Dodge Durango earns a 4.87/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, powerful performance, and family-friendly features, while also appreciating its stylish design and smooth driving experience. For you, that means it fits well if you want a three-row SUV that balances everyday usefulness with a more muscular personality than many rivals. With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Dodge Durango reliable?
Owners rate it 4.87/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback describes it as a reliable mid-size SUV, and owners also highlight its trouble-free feel in everyday use. That said, used buyers should still budget for a careful inspection, since long-term ownership risk can rise if prior recall-related repairs or maintenance were missed.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Dodge Durango?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before committing.
- Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.26% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $23,063 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Dodge Durango's resale value?
The current average of $24,154 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,193 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should stay realistic unless the vehicle is especially well kept or unusually well equipped. Strong demand for roomy, powerful three-row SUVs can still support values, but the current trend shows buyers have more leverage than they did a year ago.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.87/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.26% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.87/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $28,930 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,154 CAD average.
- It offers a more up-to-date-feeling take on the same seven-passenger muscle-SUV formula.
The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully within a softer market. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2019 is the smarter path; if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2020 is the secondary option to compare.
