CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse
Summary
With 97 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,951 CAD, 28.9% of 2019 Chevrolet Traverse listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse stands out as a family-focused three-row SUV that prioritises space above all else. Chevrolet’s second-generation redesign brought a more muscular, truck-like appearance, a longer wheelbase, and less weight than before, while also improving reliability. In Canada, this generation used a 3.6-litre V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, giving the Traverse enough strength for everyday hauling without turning it into a heavy-duty vehicle.
What makes the 2019 Traverse especially appealing is how much room and usability it delivers. It offers a usable third row, plenty of space for a midsize SUV, and 2,780 litres of cargo volume with the seats folded. The cabin is also easy to live with, thanks to a standard 7-inch colour touchscreen, an optional 8-inch unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB inputs, three-zone automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start. Buyers looking for a practical used SUV will also appreciate that this generation is described as much easier to recommend than the original Traverse.
There are still trade-offs. The Traverse is not as plush or luxurious as some rivals, and it is not especially exciting to drive or look at. Its reliability is better than the first generation’s, but it is still only about average compared with some competitors. Even so, for shoppers who want a roomy, straightforward, and user-friendly family SUV, the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse makes a strong case for itself.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, its family-friendly practicality, and its comfort features, while also noting that it works well as a roomy, straightforward SUV for passengers and cargo. That lines up with its role as a three-row family vehicle that prioritises space and everyday usability. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also highlights dependability and a trouble-free ownership experience, with comments pointing to a vehicle you can count on for family use. The second-generation redesign is described as improving reliability, which is encouraging for used buyers. Even so, as with any used SUV, you should still budget for normal wear items and verify maintenance history before you commit.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Traverse?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 97 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 20.24% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $19,952 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?
The current average of $19,952 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,017 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Traverse has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest if you decide to sell later. The current market also shows a fairly wide spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter when you set your asking price. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 20.24% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2019 Traverse is the better pick if you want a roomy, family-focused three-row SUV with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price than it had a year ago. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples with the right condition and equipment.
