Is the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 462 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,797 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $15,797 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,654 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point. For future resale, the current trend means you may not see rapid appreciation, but the Tiguan’s roomy cabin and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records complete, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Tiguan makes the most sense if you want the newer, roomier seven-seat layout, a more modern cabin, and a used price that has come down meaningfully. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better fit when you want the stronger mix of practicality, features, and market value.
