Is the 2018 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 4.58/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, spaciousness, and reliability, and many also like the handling and the range of modern features. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a practical compact SUV that focuses on usefulness, family duty, and value rather than excitement. With 26.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful share of the market worth your attention.

Is the 2018 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable and dependable, and many say it feels like a solid choice for trouble-free ownership over the long term. That reputation is reinforced by the way owners talk about confidence in the vehicle’s day-to-day use and the value they feel they received. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without needing to rush.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 462 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,848 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $20,997 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,487 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you if you buy now and later decide to sell. If values stabilise, a lower entry price today may reduce your depreciation exposure compared with buying when prices were higher. The RAV4’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $26,750 CAD, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $20,997 CAD average.
• It brings bolder styling and a more upscale interior.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the better value and a proven, well-liked compact SUV. If you are willing to pay more for newer styling and a more modern-feeling cabin, the 2019 is the better alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 is the smarter starting point.
