Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its quality, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many highlight the solid feel of the vehicle along with the EyeSight safety systems. Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

The review summary also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with reliability and safety coming through as recurring strengths. That said, some owners question the value and note the engine can feel underpowered, so your long-term ownership risk is less about major confidence in the platform and more about whether the driving experience matches your expectations.

This looks like a buyer-friendly market, especially if you want to compare listings and negotiate from a position of strength.

• Deal availability: 40.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 175 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.30% compared with last year.

What is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $17,679 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,072 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a mixed signal if you're planning to sell later: it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point now, but it also means the market has already adjusted downward. Even so, the Crosstrek's strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal should help support demand when it is time to resell. Buyers tend to keep showing up for compact crossovers with all-wheel drive, safety features, and everyday utility.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 40.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the better pick if you want the newer platform, updated tech, and a strong mix of practicality and all-weather capability. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2018 gives you a more modern ownership experience and a healthier feature set.
