Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a well-liked used crossover. Owners consistently praise its quality, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many appreciate the solid feel of the vehicle along with Subaru’s EyeSight technology. The Crosstrek’s practical use case is clear: it suits you well if you want a compact crossover with everyday utility, all-wheel drive confidence, and a cabin that works for commuting, errands, and light adventure. Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with reliability and long-term confidence coming through as recurring themes. That said, some shoppers do question the value proposition, so it is worth comparing condition, mileage, and service history closely before you commit. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a higher-priced example that does not deliver enough value for its age and equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Crosstrek?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 165 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,305 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $18,006 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,291 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Crosstrek’s practical reputation and steady demand should help support values, especially for clean, well-maintained examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the newer platform, updated tech, and the stronger overall package of practicality and safety. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2018 is the better all-around pick when you want a more modern Crosstrek with broad appeal.
