Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a well-liked used crossover. Owners consistently praise its quality, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many appreciate the solid feel of the vehicle along with its advanced safety systems. That lines up well with the Crosstrek’s practical small-crossover role, especially if you want all-weather capability and useful packaging in a compact footprint. With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on its solid build quality and confidence-inspiring safety systems. That said, some owners question the value and mention the engine’s limited punch, so reliability should be weighed alongside how the vehicle fits your daily needs. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the car’s performance and technology meet your expectations over time.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 174 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,320 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $18,120 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,007 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make future resale a little more competitive if you plan to sell later. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous average. The current price range also gives you a clearer benchmark for judging whether a used example is priced aggressively or simply fairly.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the Crosstrek’s practical packaging, standard AWD, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2018 is a sensible target year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and shop the listings carefully, but the 2018 remains a good primary choice when you find one priced near the lower end of the market.
