Owners repeatedly praise its quality, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many appreciate the solid feel of the vehicle along with Subaru’s EyeSight safety technology. Is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with the Crosstrek’s quality and safety reputation coming through clearly. That said, some owners do question the value and note that the engine can feel underpowered, so the main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about durability and more about whether the vehicle’s performance and price match your expectations.

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 169 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.

What is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $17,906 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,269 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive to stand out, especially if similar listings remain plentiful. Even so, the Crosstrek’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newer cabin, improved tech, and the more modern all-wheel-drive and safety setup, the 2018 is the stronger primary choice. If your main goal is to spend less, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to give up some of the 2018’s added refinement and features.
