CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Porsche 911
Summary
With 61 currently listed for sale and an average price of $174,025 CAD, 27.9% of 2018 Porsche 911 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Porsche 911 4.7 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Porsche 911 stands out because it sits within the 911’s seventh generation, a period when Porsche had already moved the car into its turbo era. For this model year, the lineup included the Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, and the track-focused GT3, giving buyers an unusually wide spread of performance characters in one nameplate. It also benefited from the 2017 update that brought a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, while the 2018 GT3 returned in rear-wheel-drive form and could be had with either a seven-speed PDK or a six-speed manual transmission.
What makes the 2018 911 especially appealing is how it blends everyday usability with serious performance. The base Carrera used a 3.0-litre boxer six with 370 hp, while the Carrera S rose to 420 hp and the GTS to 450 hp. At the top end, the Turbo and Turbo S delivered 540 hp and 580 hp, and the GT3 offered 500 hp for buyers who wanted a more track-oriented setup. Owners also praise the car’s performance and precise handling, and the 911’s distinctive rear-engine layout remains a defining part of its character.
There are trade-offs, though. The 911 is still pricey to buy used, and it offers limited passenger and cargo space. Some owners also dislike the cabin noise and the traditional key ignition. Even so, the 2018 Porsche 911 remains compelling because it combines iconic styling, strong resale appeal, and a driving experience that can feel equally at home on a road trip or a circuit.

| Current Average Price | $174,370 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $168,395 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $209,106 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $197,583 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.75% |

There are 60 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for this model year.
Is the 2018 Porsche 911 a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Porsche 911 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its performance, precise handling, and the way it feels equally at home on regular roads and on track. The 911’s blend of everyday usability and serious performance also fits well if you want a sports car that can still handle road trips. With 30% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2018 Porsche 911 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers feel they can count on for an engaging, trouble-free ownership experience. The strongest reliability-related praise centres on the car’s dependable performance and the confidence it inspires over the long term. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the driving experience and more about paying a premium for a car that can still be expensive to own.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Porsche 911?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.
- Deal availability: 30% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 60 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $168,395 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Porsche 911's resale value?
The current average of $174,370 CAD sits slightly below last year's $197,583 CAD.
That kind of price movement suggests the market has cooled from a year ago, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the 911’s strong reputation and broad appeal help support demand over time. If you keep the car in good condition and buy at the right price, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a 911 that balances strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and a wide range of performance choices, the 2018 is a compelling pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples, since the market still shows meaningful variation across listings.
