CarGurus Analysis: 2018 INFINITI Q50
Summary
With 52 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,507 CAD, 30.8% of 2018 INFINITI Q50 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a midsize premium sedan that leans on a strong mix of power, equipment, and value. It was introduced as a straightforward replacement for the Infiniti G37, and it kept much of that car’s character while shifting a bit more towards luxury than outright sportiness. For buyers, that combination makes it appealing if they want a sedan that feels well equipped without pushing into the highest price brackets.
For 2018, the Q50 received mild styling updates, including small changes to the grille, bumpers, and taillights, along with an upgraded infotainment system and new steering wheel designs. The trim range was renamed Luxe, Sport, and Red Sport 400, and the model continued to offer the kind of standard equipment that has long been one of Infiniti’s strengths. Even early entry-level models came with automatic LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, an eight-way power driver’s seat, SiriusXM satellite radio, 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, voice recognition, and a rear-view camera, while higher trims added heated front seats, a Bose premium audio system, and Infiniti InTouch.
The 2018 Q50 also benefits from its available V6 powertrains, which help it feel more substantial than many rivals. At this point in its run, the engine lineup had already moved to the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, and the Red Sport 400 version brought a more performance-focused character. The main drawback is that the Q50 was already starting to feel dated compared with newer rivals, and some owners also note that it lacks the most modern technology features and could ride more comfortably.

Highly recommend this car! We were looking to purchase either the Kia Stinger GT2, Genesis G70 or the Q50 Red Sport. Never got to drive a G70 due to limited stock, but got to test drive the Kia Stinger and compared to the Q50 it wasnt even close. The Q50 has much better rideability, more refined, quieter and faster. We are looking forward to enjoying this plush sleeper for many years.

How much does the 2018 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,600 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $16,594 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $21,674 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $21,669 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −18.78% |
Prices have softened 18.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 55 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2018 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 2018 INFINITI Q50 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its performance, features, and handling, and many specifically like the power and acceleration it delivers. It also fits well if you want a midsize premium sedan with a strong mix of power, equipment, and value, plus standard all-wheel drive in Canada. With 27.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2018 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, especially when they value performance and a familiar ownership experience. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, since long-term ownership risk is always higher when a car is older and has seen more use.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 INFINITI Q50?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.78% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $16,594 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $17,600 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,669 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit how much value you recover later if you sell. For a future owner, the softer pricing means depreciation has been meaningful, so resale performance will depend more on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a well-equipped luxury sedan with strong owner approval and a market that has become more buyer-friendly. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains the better pick when you want a balanced mix of value, features, and buyer confidence.
