I was already familiar with Hyundai Santa Fes. I think Hyundai offers more for the money compared to other models...at least for now. Until they become popular. Other comparable models are other mid-dized SUVs such as Toyota Hylander, Ford Explorer, Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Equinox, Subaru Forester, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Passport, Honda CR-V.... For me, I do not care about the gadgets and exxtra, I only care about reliability and getting the best used car value for the money. So the Santa Fe is more than I need. If I was driving around the city I would look at the Santa Fe Sport. For a general mid-range the Santa Fe SE. For a little more style and comfort thecSanta Fe Ultimate Limited

The only thing I wish this car had was a sunroof! But it has the racks and all the bells and whistles that we want/need. So much room and space

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is a good car if you want a practical, family-focused SUV with a 4.5/5 user rating. The 2018 model’s bigger footprint, available three-row seating, generous legroom, and broad equipment list make it especially appealing if you value space and versatility over sporty handling. It also gives you multiple engine choices and available all-wheel drive, which adds to its everyday usefulness.
With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a meaningful amount of attractive inventory to consider.
Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is described as generally safe and well equipped, with a practical layout and a wide spread of available features that support everyday ownership. Its appeal comes more from usefulness and comfort than from excitement, which can be a positive sign if you want a straightforward SUV that is easy to live with.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a vehicle with this much equipment and seating flexibility can become more expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was inconsistent.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and focus on the best examples.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 233 listings available.
Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe makes the most sense if you want a practical, well-equipped SUV with flexible seating and a strong ownership reputation. If your priority is value and you like the idea of a more traditional family hauler, the 2018 is a solid choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is also worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2018’s balance of space, equipment, and satisfaction.
