Is the 2018 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — 4.67/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2018 Hyundai Kona stood out in the subcompact SUV class by pairing distinctive styling with a generous amount of equipment, and even the mainstream versions came with useful features such as heated front seats, keyless entry, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also offered available all-wheel drive and a broad powertrain lineup, so you can shop for one that fits your priorities. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Hyundai Kona’s appeal comes from its useful equipment, available all-wheel drive, and straightforward mainstream powertrain rather than from complexity. Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder and available 1.6-litre turbocharged engine give you a clear choice between simplicity and stronger performance. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a first-generation small SUV can show wear in areas like interior space and cargo practicality, so condition matters a lot.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 166 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.76% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,043 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $15,064 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,098 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Kona easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should expect a more value-focused market rather than a strong appreciation story. Well-equipped examples with desirable features and clean history should still attract attention.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used Kona with distinctive styling, useful standard equipment, and a lower asking price than it had a year ago, the 2018 is a sensible place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep comparing nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the cheapest listing.
