Is the 2018 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.67/5 user rating, and its appeal comes through clearly in its mix of distinctive styling, a strong equipment list, and an available turbocharged engine. For you, that means it can make sense if you want a subcompact SUV that feels well equipped without moving up in size or price. Is the 2018 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Kona’s overview suggests a vehicle that was built to offer a lot of equipment and traction options for the money, which can be a positive sign for day-to-day ownership. Its mainstream versions also use a straightforward 2.0-litre four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic, which may appeal if you prefer a simpler setup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a first-generation model with a cramped cabin and limited cargo space may feel less versatile over time if your needs grow.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Kona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,162 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $15,162 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,753 CAD.

That kind of decline suggests the Kona has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher market level. The model’s strong equipment list and broad appeal should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a small SUV with a lot of features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Kona is a sensible choice if you want a well-equipped subcompact SUV and you value current pricing that has eased from last year. If you’re price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years as well, but the 2018 stands out as a good starting point when you want a balance of features, value, and market availability.
