Acceleration is lacking but, overall, performance, comfort, mileage are good! Price was fair. Would recommend as a city car.

Base Elantra has good pick up 0-40 mph, but after 40 it strains. Base model is a good handling car and good value if buying it cheap. But new - people should opt for the turbo.. 2-3k more but includes better interior, push button, and way faster engine.

This car is great! I just need a small car, and prefer the versatility and sportiness of a hatchback. So far, seems to be a step up from my Ford Focus.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,914 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $12,904 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $14,803 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,812 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.81% |
Prices have softened 12.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 71 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for used-car shoppers.
Is the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT a good car?
Yes — owners give it 4.6/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. In reviews, you’ll see recurring praise for its good handling, comfort, value for money, and fun city driving, along with appreciation for its sporty hatchback design. The main trade-off mentioned is that acceleration can feel lacking, especially at higher speeds. With 26.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a reasonable chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Review feedback also points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to comfort, value, and a generally dependable everyday driving experience. That said, used buyers should still assess maintenance history carefully, since long-term ownership risk always depends on how the vehicle was driven and maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 71 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.81% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $12,904 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT's resale value?
The current average of $12,914 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,812 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future depreciation less abrupt if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your best protection is entering ownership at a competitive number rather than paying near the top of the range. A model with broad appeal and solid owner satisfaction can still hold buyer interest better than one with weaker reviews.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.81% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a used hatchback with strong owner satisfaction, good value, and a market that has become more favourable, the 2018 is the primary year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, compare nearby years as well, but the 2018 stands out as a sensible starting point because the current pricing trend and deal availability both support a careful purchase.
