Which 2018 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-truck starting point, with the fewest comfort features but the essentials you need, including a reversing camera and an auxiliary jack. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the F-150 and do not need much equipment.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, Bluetooth, a USB port, 17-inch aluminium wheels, and chrome bumpers without jumping too far up the price ladder. If you want a more usable daily driver, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather-trimmed front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3, and push-button start. It is a strong choice if comfort and technology matter more than keeping the truck as basic as possible.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into premium style and comfort with unique leather bucket seats, heated rear seats, a two-tone paint scheme, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system. It suits you if you want a more distinctive luxury feel.
• Platinum: This trim adds more visual polish with a unique grille, 20-inch polished aluminium wheels, wood interior accents, and navigation. It is a good fit if you want a more upscale look and feel.
• Raptor: This is the off-road-focused choice, with skid plates, a wider body, unique styling, and hardware geared for rough terrain. Choose it if off-road capability is your priority.
• Limited: This is the top luxury trim, with nearly every major option, including a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and massaging front seats. It is the right pick if you want the most fully equipped F-150.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, with the 360-degree camera and advanced driver-assistance features standard on the Limited and available on several other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 916 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,866 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $25,117 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,149 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about what their truck can command. If you are planning to sell later, condition, trim, and equipment will matter a lot, especially because higher-end versions can vary widely in value.

The current trend also shows that the truck is still holding meaningful market interest, which helps support resale stability. Well-equipped examples with strong maintenance records should remain easier to move than trucks that are worn, under-optioned, or priced too aggressively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
