Is the 2018 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the spacious interior, comfortable ride, and strong performance, and many also like the extra features such as heated seats and a sunroof. For you, that makes this a sensible pick if you want a roomy, family-friendly midsize SUV with a broad range of equipment and a more composed on-road feel than older Explorers. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they describe it as spacious, comfortable, and strong-performing. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it to deliver the kind of everyday usefulness used SUV shoppers want. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific example you choose has been well maintained and priced appropriately.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 326 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,920 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $17,920 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,119 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, the lower entry price can help cushion some depreciation risk compared with a period when values were higher. Strong demand for well-liked family SUVs can still support resale, especially when the vehicle has the kind of owner approval this one does.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value and owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the year to focus on. It gives you a lower average price and strong feedback from drivers, which makes it the primary path for most shoppers. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still compare nearby years, but the 2018 stands out as the more compelling balance of affordability and confidence.
