Used 2018 Ford Explorer for Sale near Alberta

How much does the 2018 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 19.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 320 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford Explorer earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and strong performance, and many also like the extra features such as heated seats and a sunroof. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a roomy, family-friendly midsize SUV with a broad range of equipment and a more composed on-road feel. With 29.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.

Is the 2018 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, especially for everyday family use. The repeated praise for comfort, space, and strong performance suggests the Explorer can be a solid long-term choice if you maintain it properly. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that any higher-mileage SUV can bring age-related repair costs, so a careful inspection and service-history review matter.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 320 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.62% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,662 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $17,662 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,972 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The model’s broad appeal and family-friendly layout should help it stay relevant with used shoppers, especially when it is priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a roomy, well-liked midsize SUV and you value current pricing, the 2018 is a strong primary choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price or a better-equipped example gives you more value for your budget.

How does the 2018 Ford Explorer compare to the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

The Explorer gives you the lower average used price and far more listings to shop from, while the Traverse brings more horsepower and a slightly higher share of good or great deals. If you want more selection and a lower entry price, the Explorer is the easier buy; if you want a bit more power and are comfortable paying more, the Traverse is worth a look.
