I went from a 2014 F150 to the 2018 Chevy one ton with the Duramax. So far its been a decent vehicle, Chevy has a lot to learn from Ford about creature comforts, cupholders are small, and fewer than the older Ford. The console does not have AC vents in the back of it for rear passengers but relies on small vents under the front seats, unacceptable for when packing little kids in the back seat as a diaper bag or a kids coat completely blocks them. The center console is a hot mess. It does not lock and the forward portion has an odd shape rather than having a flat bottom. It is too wide and the front portion encroaches on your legroom. The passenger side footwell is a bit cramped, I am assuming due the the needs of the exhaust. Seats are a bit narrow and not well bolstered, they could be an inch deeper and wider, the backs of the front seats are comfortable for a man my size, 65. Ride is firm but comfortable. Steering input and feedback is as to be expected from a Chevrolet, excellent. Power is ample and the transmission seems to shift at appropriate times. The rear view camera has an ample field of vision with guidelines that do not obscure much, the predictive lines for backing will take some getting used to. Tall people like me will have a bit of a problem seeing stoplights as the windshield is quite short as are the tops of the doors. I never hit my head getting into and out of the Ford, I will driving the Silverado. The rear seat sits higher than the 2014 Ford F150 which is nice for children as they will be able to see more when riding. Rear cupholders are small and located in a flip down portion of the rear seat rather than in the back of the center console. Add a fifth person and creature comforts all but evaporate for the rear passengers. As I will be driving this a majority of the time by myself or with another adult passenger the rear seat issues will not be too much of a concern. The mirrors are excellent but create a blindspot. Their size is a tradeoff. The trailer brake controls are in a good location to the left of the steering wheel if a bit high up on the dash. HVAC controls are ergonomic being knobs for heat and fan speed. Windshield wiper knob is a bit odd as the end is not the wiper control but one dial in making it a bit difficult to reach around the steering wheel which I think should be slightly larger in diameter. The tilt and telescoping column is manual which will prevent failure in the long term.

Great diesel power, smooth shifts, perfect steering, smooth ride for an HD truck. Best fuel economy of the 3 manufactures!
