Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, fuel economy, comfortable ride, and good handling, and many also like its performance and more premium feel. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size pickup that can handle work duties while still feeling comfortable for daily use. With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a truck that many drivers find dependable, with praise centred on its power, fuel economy, and comfortable ride. That said, the model’s reputation is mixed enough that you should pay close attention to service records and transmission behaviour during a test drive. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is avoiding a truck with unresolved drivetrain issues or a patchy maintenance history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you focus on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 572 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,081 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $25,081 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,776 CAD.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent market softness, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for a seller in the near term. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck well maintained, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. The current inventory and deal share also suggest buyers still have options, which can keep resale competition fairly active.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a used Silverado with strong owner approval, a softer price than a year ago, and enough inventory to compare options. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year could still make sense, but the 2018 is a sensible primary target when you want a well-liked full-size pickup with broad availability.
