What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Audi Q5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard Q5 is offered in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trim levels. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more, since the higher trims add more of the premium equipment and technology that make this SUV feel special.
• Powertrain: The Q5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. It is quick, smooth, and tuned for strong everyday performance.
• Safety package: Audi Pre-Sense includes forward-collision detection and automatic emergency braking, and available driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Vehicle Exit Assist. Some of these features are not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: The Q5 uses the Multi-Media Interface All-in-Touch system with a touchpad controller and handwriting-recognition capability. Bluetooth and a rearview camera are standard, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, and Technik models add Audi Virtual Cockpit, a 12.3-inch digital display, and a full-colour head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The official combined fuel-consumption estimate is 9.6 L/100 km, and the review notes a real-world result of 11.0 L/100 km.

Which 2018 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Komfort, Progressiv, Technik.

Here's the short version:

• Komfort: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Q5’s core strengths at the lowest price, but it is also the trim most likely to feel light on the premium extras that define the model.
• Progressiv: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it sits in the sweet spot between price and equipment, giving you more of the upscale feel and technology without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Technik: Choose this if you want the most advanced version of the Q5, including Audi Virtual Cockpit, the 12.3-inch digital display, the full-colour head-up display, and the Bang & Olufsen premium Surround Sound system.

The safety content also notes that some driver-assistance features are available rather than standard, so it is worth checking exactly which systems are included on the trim you are considering.

What is the 2018 Audi Q5's resale value?

The current average of $19,464 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,035 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. The Q5’s strong reputation for comfort, technology, and refinement should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a premium compact SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

Choose the 2018 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
