This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $15,632 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,752 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should stay realistic unless the vehicle is especially clean, well maintained, and attractively priced. The current inventory and deal mix suggest buyers still have choices, so condition and pricing will matter a lot when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,604 CAD, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,632 CAD average.
• It focuses on fuel economy and value.

The bottom line:
You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the newer update, stronger standard equipment, and a still-reasonable market price. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you can find one in good condition and you do not need the newer model-year upgrades.
