That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at the right number now, you may have less downside risk later because the model has already adjusted downward. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a smart choice if you want a practical, well-liked Crosstrek with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price or a newer feature set better fits your budget.
