CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Porsche Macan
Summary
With 101 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,000 CAD, 27.7% of 2017 Porsche Macan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Porsche Macan 4.86 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Porsche Macan stands out because it blends Porsche’s sports-car character with compact SUV practicality. From the start, it was designed to be smaller and nimbler than the Cayenne, and all models have all-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK automatic transmission. That formula helps explain why it has long been regarded as one of the best-driving vehicles in its class, with a fast, fun feel that suits buyers who want luxury without giving up performance.
For 2017, the Macan’s range expanded with two new variants in Canada. The base model used a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower, while the Macan GTS sat between the Macan S and Macan Turbo with a 360-horsepower version of the 3.0-litre V6. The model also benefits from a high-quality interior and strong standard equipment, including electric front seat adjustment, electric folding door mirrors, and a power tailgate. Owners also praise its power, handling, and premium build quality.
The main trade-offs are the ones you would expect from a sleek performance-focused SUV. Rear-seat space is below average, and the Macan is not especially spacious inside. It can also be expensive compared with other SUVs in its class, and higher-powered versions are noted for poor fuel economy. Even so, the 2017 Porsche Macan remains appealing for buyers who value sharp driving manners, a luxurious feel, and a compact SUV that feels distinctly Porsche.

It's a fantastic car. It's practical to use, unlike a sports car, exceptionally comfortable for long trips, and when you push the go pedal down, things get exciting quickly.

If you find a listing below $24,647 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Porsche Macan's resale value?
The current average of $24,926 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,844 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Macan more attractive to used buyers today but may also limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. If you buy at the right number, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Strong demand for well-kept examples should still help support values, especially for buyers who prioritise the Macan’s premium feel and driving character.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Porsche Macan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.48% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value and owner appeal, the 2017 is a sensible place to focus because it combines a softer price trend with strong satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, you could also compare nearby years and prioritise whichever one gives you the best condition and service history for the money.
