Is the 2017 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its stylish design, smooth ride, and excellent reliability, and many also like the comfortable handling and fuel economy, especially on long trips. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a compact SUV with a more polished, near-premium feel and everyday practicality. The market also shows 25.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights excellent reliability, and it also points to a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That said, some owners did wish for more power and cargo space, so the main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about satisfaction and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be choosy without waiting forever for the right example.

• Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 320 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,475 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $17,475 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,789 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has softened enough to create a more approachable entry point for buyers today, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later, especially if you choose a clean, well-kept example. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the newer-generation CX-5 feel, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2017 is the better all-around pick if you want a more polished ownership experience.
