Why it stands out
The 2017 Lexus NX stands out because it combines a sharply styled exterior with a premium feel and a reputation for reliability. Lexus’s compact SUV was already known for its angular design, and the NX’s distinctive look remains one of its biggest selling points. It also appeals to buyers who want a luxury crossover that feels well built without chasing outright sportiness, and owners often praise its comfort, smooth ride, and sporty character.
For 2017, the NX’s powertrain choices are a major part of its appeal. The gas model uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. The hybrid NX 300h adds a 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, with total system output of 194 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission. It is also notably more fuel efficient, with Natural Resources Canada listing a combined figure of 7.4 to 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres depending on equipment and model year, compared with 9.6 to 9.9 L/100 km for the gas version.
The main trade-offs are familiar ones. The NX is not as rewarding to drive as some rivals, and many desirable features are bundled into option packs rather than included as standard. Space is another area where some owners would like more. Even so, the 2017 Lexus NX remains distinctive for buyers who value style, efficiency in hybrid form, and the kind of dependability Lexus is known for.

I’ve been looking far something that like this car . I’m a little older i needed something I could just slide into and this fits the bill. No more knocking your knees off! The handling is wonderful . Just slides into any parking place. Everything inside is arranged right where you can reach it. I would tell anyone to buy this car. It just glides down the road. A classy car at an affordable price.

| Year-Round High | $26,473 CAD |

There are 79 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2017 Lexus NX a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Lexus NX earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and stylish design, and the blend of sporty feel with a premium cabin is a recurring theme in reviews. It also fits buyers who want a luxury crossover that feels well built without chasing outright sportiness, especially if you value a distinctive look and everyday comfort. With 22.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Lexus NX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable, and the feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience with a reputation you can count on over the long term. That said, some owners mention minor service issues with the dealership, so your used-buying risk is less about the vehicle’s core durability and more about finding one with a clean maintenance history.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus NX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rush.
- Deal availability: 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 79 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.43% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $22,520 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Lexus NX's resale value?
The current average of $23,209 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,503 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the NX more attractive to you as a buyer today but may also limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. Even so, the model’s strong owner satisfaction and premium reputation help support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and maintain it properly, you should still have a solid chance of attracting buyers later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Lexus NX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.43% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the NX’s distinctive styling, premium feel, and strong owner satisfaction at a softer market price. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is the better fit when you want a balance of value, comfort, and confidence in long-term ownership.
