Is the 2017 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.8/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction with this model year.

The user feedback highlights its reliability, spaciousness, and useful tech features, while also praising the comfortable ride and strong AWD capability. That lines up well with the Pilot’s role as a practical three-row SUV for families who want room for passengers and everyday versatility.

Is the 2017 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user review summary specifically points to reliability, and it also describes the Pilot as dependable enough that many owners feel confident in its day-to-day use. That said, some drivers mention transmission performance concerns, so reliability-minded used buyers should pay close attention to service history and how the vehicle drives on a test route.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that a neglected example could carry expensive drivetrain issues, so a thorough inspection matters.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 204 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,231 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $20,231 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,824 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Pilot more attractive to buyers today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The current inventory and deal mix also suggest the market is active enough that well-priced examples should still move.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible choice if you want a well-liked, family-friendly Pilot and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it’s worth comparing nearby years to see whether a newer or older example offers a better balance of price and condition.
