Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make a good purchase possible.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 540 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,331 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $15,331 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,637 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Civic has become a bit more accessible for buyers, which can also shape what future sellers should expect. If you buy at today's average, you may have less immediate downside than someone who bought when prices were higher, but resale value will still depend on condition, mileage, and trim. Strong demand for practical, efficient compact cars should help support the Civic’s market position over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,006 CAD, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,331 CAD average.
• The redesign brought a more polished, refined, and desirable small car.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger all-around balance of value, owner satisfaction, and current market availability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better price-sensitive alternative, especially if you find one in good condition.
