Is the 2017 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, great gas mileage, enjoyable features, impressive handling, and spacious interior. That lines up well if you want a compact car that feels more substantial than its size suggests while still being economical and easy to live with. Is the 2017 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, dependable day-to-day use, and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That makes it a reassuring choice if you want a used compact car you can count on for commuting and routine errands. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition can vary, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and signs of wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 529 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,521 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $15,562 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,768 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at a strong price, you may have a better chance of protecting your value later. The Civic’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,198 CAD, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,562 CAD average.
• The redesign brought a more polished and desirable take on the Civic.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger value balance between price, owner satisfaction, and current inventory. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in good condition and can live with the older model year’s lower price point.
