Generally — the 2017 GMC Terrain earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, quiet cabin, and smooth handling, and the Terrain’s roomy, practical layout makes it a sensible fit if you want a compact SUV that leans more toward comfort than flash. The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people have found comfortable and dependable in day-to-day use, especially when it comes to ride quality, cabin quietness, and smooth operation. What is the 2017 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $12,486 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,286 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Terrain has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who overpays today. Demand should remain supported by the model’s comfort-focused appeal and practical cabin.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want a comfortable, practical compact SUV and you find a well-priced example with the right history. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may offer a lower entry price, but the 2017 stands out as the stronger pick when you want a balance of value, comfort, and market availability.

How does the 2017 GMC Terrain compare to the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox?

The Terrain and Equinox are closely matched on core specs, so your decision often comes down to price, availability, and which cabin or styling you prefer. The Equinox is cheaper on average and has more listings, while the Terrain has a higher share of good and great deals, which can make it the better value if you find the right example.
