CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Ford Fusion
Summary
With 115 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,539 CAD, 20.9% of 2017 Ford Fusion listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Ford Fusion 4.8 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a generous feature set. Ford’s second-generation Fusion was already known for its striking design and roomy cabin, and by 2017 it had gained a major update in the form of SYNC 3, which brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That makes the 2017 model especially appealing to buyers who want a car that feels modern without moving into crossover territory.
It also offers unusual breadth for the class. The 2017 Fusion could be had with available all-wheel drive, and Ford added a very potent 325-horsepower EcoBoost V6 during the car’s 2017 refresh. The model line also included a 175-horsepower 2.5-litre Duratec, a turbocharged 1.5-litre EcoBoost, a 240-hp 2.0-litre EcoBoost Turbo, and hybrid versions rated at up to 188 hp. Inside, the Fusion’s back seat has 973 millimetres of legroom and the trunk measures 450 litres, so it is practical as well as stylish. Owners also tend to praise its smooth ride, comfort, and solid performance.
The main trade-offs are familiar ones for a sporty midsize sedan. The most powerful versions are the most exciting, but many buyers chose four-cylinder engines, and the non-hybrid gas models do not deliver standout fuel economy. Even so, the 2017 Ford Fusion remains distinctive because it combines attractive design, good driving dynamics, useful space, and a wide range of equipment in a package that still feels well balanced.

The current average of $11,826 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,724 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone. A well-kept example may still stand out, but the softer pricing trend means you should be realistic about how quickly value may continue to move.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 19.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2017 Ford Fusion is the better choice if you want the year with strong owner approval, softer pricing, and enough inventory to compare options. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth a look, but the 2017 stands out as the more balanced buy when you want value, comfort, and a solid ownership reputation.
