CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Audi Q7

Summary
With 24 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,991 CAD, 33.3% of 2017 Audi Q7 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Audi Q7 4.78 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Audi Q7 stands out as a redesigned midsize luxury SUV that blends three-row practicality with Audi’s cleaner, more angular styling. It is instantly recognisable as an Audi, and its uncluttered design has aged well. Inside, it feels more technical than warm, but the cabin still brings a premium atmosphere, and the front and second rows are described as comfortable and spacious. Cargo space is also a strength, with 419 litres behind the third row, 1,061 litres with that row folded, and a maximum of 2,027 litres.
Technology is one of the Q7’s biggest differentiators. For this generation, Audi introduced digital instrumentation, a small infotainment screen controlled from the centre console, and for the first time in the Q7, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2017 model also offers a choice of two engines, including a turbocharged 252-horsepower 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a turbocharged 333-hp 3.0-litre V6, with the latter also providing 3,500 kilograms of towing capacity. That said, the four-cylinder is criticised for not providing enough power and for unimpressive fuel economy, so buyers are generally better served by the V6.
The 2017 Q7 also has a few important limitations to keep in mind. The third row is smaller and best reserved for children, and headlight performance was consistently poor through 2023. On the positive side, the Q7 has performed well in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety since 2017, and its combination of comfort, utility, and advanced features makes it appealing to buyers who want a refined family SUV with strong everyday versatility.

Best, highest quality vehicle we have ever owned - have owned most all other German brands, but this is our first Audi. We did our research & test drives and the Q7 was the best combination of power, safety, style, 7 seats (a must for us) and off the charts solid, luxury vehicle. There is nothing I dont like about my 2017 Q7. Really looking forward to a long road trip!

Stunning interior and super tech heavy. At first the interior technology seemed a little daunting, but with a little time behind the wheel became 2nd nature and appreciated. Incredibly smooth ride and the ability to change drive modes changes the cars personality which is really fun. I am not a fan of the engine auto on/off function while in traffic or at a stop light. Thankfully you get the option to shut that off. Love this car overall. It can be pricey, but there seem to be some decent deals out there on low mileage used vehicles if you are patient.

How much does the 2017 Audi Q7 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $19,226 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $19,226 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $23,185 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,909 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −16.08% |
Prices have softened 16.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 144 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2017 Audi Q7 a good car?
Yes — the 2017 Audi Q7 earns a 4.78/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, and advanced technology, and many also like its performance and handling in different drive modes. It also fits well if you want a refined three-row luxury SUV with comfortable front and second-row seating, plus useful cargo flexibility for family duty. With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2017 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also highlights the Q7 as luxurious, smooth, and generally well-liked over time, with many owners describing it as a vehicle they enjoy living with day to day. The recurring praise for its comfort, performance, and technology suggests a model that many buyers feel confident keeping for the long haul, even if some mention fuel consumption and infotainment quirks.
For used buyers, that combination suggests manageable long-term ownership risk if you choose a well-maintained example and pay attention to the features and equipment on the specific vehicle you’re considering.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 144 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.08% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $19,226 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $19,226 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,909 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Q7 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If the market continues to favour shoppers, resale values could stay under pressure unless a specific example is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. Strong demand for a luxury SUV with three-row practicality can still help support value, but the current trend favours buyers more than sellers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2017 Q7 makes sense if you want a well-liked, three-row luxury SUV and you’re focused on value in today’s used market. If you’re price-sensitive, this year’s softer pricing and decent deal availability make it worth a close look; if you want the broadest shopping pool, you can also compare nearby years and choose the cleanest, best-priced example rather than locking onto this year alone.
