How much does the 2016 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 6.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 79 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 4.93/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and the abundance of features it offers, and they also highlight the smooth ride and powerful V6 engine. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Highlander’s role as a spacious, comfortable, family-focused SUV with plenty of cargo room and useful standard equipment. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a well-priced example.

Is the 2016 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with reliability standing out alongside comfort as a core strength. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for family duty and regular commuting. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding a well-maintained example with a clean service history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin conditions.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 79 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,104 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $22,592 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,138 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favour, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar unless the vehicle is especially well kept. Even so, the Highlander’s strong reputation for comfort, reliability, and features should help it remain appealing to used shoppers. If you maintain it well and keep records, you should be in a better position to protect value when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Highlander is a strong choice if you want a comfortable, well-equipped, family-friendly SUV with solid owner approval and a market that is a bit more favourable than it was a year ago. If your priority is value, this year deserves a close look; if you want to stretch your budget further, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2016’s stronger feature set and owner satisfaction.
