Is the 2016 Subaru WRX a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked performance car. Owners consistently praise the driving experience, performance, comfort, and the value it offers, which fits a model that blends rally-inspired fun with everyday usability. If you want a practical sport compact with standard all-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine, the WRX’s use case is clear. With 29.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its performance, comfort, and overall value. That said, the same feedback also hints at some ownership compromises, including the removed armrest and the learning curve of the manual transmission. For used buyers, that means long-term risk looks more about fit and day-to-day livability than a lack of owner confidence.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate market where you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 74 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,423 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $16,389 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,345 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly appreciating. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger hit later. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 WRX makes the most sense if you want the core WRX formula at a more approachable used price and you value standard all-wheel drive, strong performance, and everyday usability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, nearby model years may be worth comparing, but the 2016 is a sensible target when you find a clean listing near the lower end of the market.
