Is the 2016 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 RAM 3500 earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its reliability and power for heavy-duty towing, and many also like the comfort and decent fuel economy, especially in single rear wheel configurations. For you, that means it can make sense if you want a truck that still feels substantial and capable while offering more refinement than older heavy-duty pickups. Is the 2016 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights it as reliable, powerful, and well suited to heavy-duty work, with owners saying they can count on it for towing and other demanding tasks. That said, some buyers mention front tire wear and missing features in lower trims, so a used example still deserves a careful inspection before you commit to long-term ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 3500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 16.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 62 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,912 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $40,023 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,700 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can make the truck more approachable for you now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If values continue to soften, future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. On the other hand, the model’s strong owner satisfaction and heavy-duty appeal can help support demand when you eventually list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 16.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, broad configuration choices, and a market that has become a bit more favourable, the 2016 is a sensible place to focus. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, you can also compare nearby years and choose the one with the best condition and equipment for your budget.
