The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable, with praise for its trouble-free day-to-day use, good fuel economy, and overall value. For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example, so a careful inspection matters.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

The current average of $14,109 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,287 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2016 CX-5 has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. Because the current average is still within the model’s year-round range, a well-kept example should remain reasonably marketable. Strong owner satisfaction can also support demand when you decide to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 CX-5 makes sense if you want a used compact SUV with strong owner approval, a softer price than a year ago, and a good chance of finding a fair deal. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare it with nearby years and focus on the best-maintained, best-priced example rather than the newest badge alone.
