Yes — the 2016 Honda HR-V earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its good value, smooth driving, and spaciousness, and the versatile cabin layout is especially appealing if you want a practical crossover for urban driving or small-family use. Is the 2016 Honda HR-V reliable?

The owner feedback also points to reliability as one of the HR-V’s strengths, with many drivers specifically calling out the vehicle’s dependable nature. That kind of repeat praise matters because it suggests the HR-V is the sort of used vehicle you can count on for regular commuting and daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly, especially if it has seen hard use or inconsistent servicing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda HR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find a solid example.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 89 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,200 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $14,341 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,567 CAD.

That price movement suggests the HR-V has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, the lower entry price can help offset some depreciation risk, especially if you choose a well-kept example with strong service history. Because the model still has broad appeal as a practical, value-focused crossover, demand should remain reasonably steady for clean, well-priced listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Honda HR-V makes sense if you want a practical, value-oriented small crossover and you find one with a clean history at a fair price. If you’re more price-sensitive, it’s worth comparing nearby model years and focusing on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, mileage, and asking price rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
