Why it stands out
Buying a 2016 Honda Accord is a good hedge against unanticipated expenses. Honda also makes a number of improvements to the 2016 Accord sedan, which helps make this popular family sedan better in several ways. In most respects, it remains a terrific automobile.
That said, the car is not without flaws. The review notes that numerous small oversights remain, and together they create a steady, underlying thrum of aggravation. Even so, the overall impression is still positive, with the Accord standing out as a sensible and appealing choice for buyers who want a well-rounded sedan.

The car had two bullet holes. One on the passenger side and one on the hood. It also had water spots and apparent water damage inside as evidenced by the rust to the seat tracks and numerous water stains in the seats. This car should not have been on the lot for sale.

My 2016 Honda Accord is a bad ass & a show stopper vehicle. I swear I am in love with my car aka Martha. The features such as the sport shift gears adds that Fast & Furious Vin Diesel speed and makes the drive more exciting. The paddle shifters are pretty neat and adds that tork speed as well. Honestly, the ovreally value of my car was well worth it, compared to the other sport cars I was seeking to potentially purchase. Honda was affordable and just as awesome with its features, cost and body style. I would compare my car to the BMW 4 Series. I love my Honda Accord Sport,.. And I get so man compliments on her..

Is the 2016 Honda Accord a good car?
Generally — the 2016 Honda Accord earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall used-car case. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and impressive gas mileage, while also valuing the safety features and interior quality. That lines up well with the Accord’s role as a well-rounded midsize family sedan, especially if you want something practical and appealing for everyday use. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights reliability, and the model is also praised for being dependable and a good value over time. The expert review adds that buying one is a good hedge against unanticipated expenses, with favourable reliability ratings helping support its appeal. Honda’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to low insurance costs and strong fuel economy estimates as ownership advantages.
That said, some owners report specific quality issues and serious defects in certain units, so a careful pre-purchase inspection is still important for used buyers.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Accord?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Accord spans a wide range of equipment and budget needs, from the LX to the Touring CVT, with Sport and EX-L sedans in between. Base versions miss some of the higher-end styling and convenience upgrades, while the Touring brings the most upscale look and feel.
- Powertrain: Most models use a 2.4-litre four-cylinder with 185 horsepower, while the Sport gets 189 hp and the EX-L V6 and Touring V6 add a 3.5-litre V6 with 278 hp. The Accord is front-wheel drive only.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on EX-L and Touring models with both engines, and it cannot be paired with the manual transmission.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets Bluetooth streaming audio, text-messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora access. The 7-inch touchscreen with HondaLink, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto is reserved for Touring and Touring V6 models.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes an average of 9.6 L/100 km on a test loop, versus an official combined rating of 9.4 L/100 km. It also says the car can use less than 7 L/100 km on the open road at highway speeds.
Which 2016 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2016 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring CVT, EX-L V6, Touring V6.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point if you want the Accord’s core strengths at the lowest price, but you give up some of the richer equipment and technology found higher up the range.
- Sport: This trim adds a more athletic feel and gets the 189-hp version of the four-cylinder, making it a smart pick if you want a little more character without moving to V6 pricing.
- EX-L: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it unlocks more comfort and also qualifies for Honda Sensing with both engines.
- Touring CVT: Choose this if you want the most upscale four-cylinder version, plus the full infotainment and connected-services setup.
- EX-L V6: This is the pick if you want stronger acceleration and the V6’s extra passing power while still keeping a relatively balanced equipment mix.
- Touring V6: This is the top choice for buyers who want the most power, the most features, and the most premium presentation.
Honda Sensing is standard on the EX-L and Touring with both engines, but it cannot be combined with the manual transmission.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best ones.
- Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 109 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.12% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $15,049 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $15,257 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,079 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the Accord has become a bit easier for buyers to access, which can help keep demand steady in the used market. For a future seller, that means the car may remain competitive if it stays well maintained and presents cleanly. The current price trend also shows that shoppers are still willing to pay meaningful money for a well-regarded midsize sedan, even as values ease.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord safe?
The 2016 Honda Accord earns top marks in every NHTSA and IIHS assessment except for four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the key driver-assistance suite here, and it includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on EX-L and Touring models with both engines, and Honda also makes it available on every version of the Accord, with the caveat that you cannot pair it with the manual transmission.
A few safety trade-offs remain. Rear cross-traffic alert and a traditional blind-spot warning system are not included, and LaneWatch only monitors the right-side blind spot rather than both sides.
Should I buy a 2016 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.12% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda’s 2016 refresh adds useful improvements, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,484 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $15,257 CAD average.
- It is described as exceptionally well-engineered and especially dependable.
The bottom line: The 2016 is the better all-around choice if you want the refreshed Accord with stronger tech and safety content. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings strong core strengths.
